Creating Profile Pictures

How to turn your AI headshots into polished profile pictures with custom backgrounds, shapes, and styling.

Creating Profile Pictures

The Profile Pictures editor lets you take any AI headshot (or your own uploaded photo) and format it into a finished profile picture. You control the shape, background, border, filters, text overlay, and position — then save and download a 1024x1024 PNG.

A paid package is required to create profile pictures. Free accounts can access the editor but need to upgrade before saving.

How it works

  1. Go to Profile Pictures in the app sidebar at /app/profile-picture.
  2. Click + New to open the editor.
  3. Choose your source image — pick from your existing AI headshots or upload any photo directly.
  4. Use the tool sidebar to style your picture. Tools available:
    • Photo — Set shape (circle, rounded square, or square), scale, rotation, position, and flip.
    • Border — Add a decorative border with solid or gradient color, adjustable width, offset, opacity, amount, rotation, and cap style.
    • Text — Add a text overlay with custom font, color, size, arc direction, and position.
    • Background — Replace the background with a solid color, gradient, pattern, or custom image. Background replacement requires the Remove Background toggle to be enabled first.
    • Filters — Apply a photo filter preset (35+ options including Clarendon, Inkwell, Nashville, and more) or adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, blur, grayscale, hue, invert, and sepia manually.
    • Outline — Add a colored outline around the subject after background removal.
    • AI — Use AI tools (Outfit, Hairstyle, Expression, Accessories, Lighting, Face Enhancement). Each AI edit costs one tool credit. Free accounts receive 3 credits; Pro accounts receive 200 per year.
  5. Toggle Remove background in the canvas controls to strip the background from your photo. This is required before adding a custom background or outline.
  6. Use the undo/redo controls to step back through your changes.
  7. Click Save when finished. The editor exports a 1024x1024 PNG and saves it to your profile pictures library.
  8. Click Download at any point to get the current state as a PNG without saving to the library.

Good to know

  • The canvas preview renders at a reduced size on screen (280–400px depending on your browser window). The final export is always 1024x1024 pixels regardless of canvas display size.
  • Background removal runs via an AI model and takes a few seconds. A "Processing" badge appears on the toggle while it runs.
  • AI tool transforms take 10–30 seconds each and consume one tool credit per use.
  • The first profile picture you save is automatically set as your primary. Your primary picture is used as your avatar across the platform.
  • You can have multiple profile pictures saved. Only one can be primary at a time.
  • Saving an edit to an existing profile picture replaces the stored image and increments the version. Shared or embedded URLs update automatically.
  • The browser will warn you if you try to leave the editor with unsaved changes.
  • You can open the editor with a specific image pre-loaded by navigating from one of your headshot results.
