Uploading from Your Phone
How to use the QR code flow or mobile browser to capture and upload selfies from your phone
Uploading from Your Phone
The recommended way to upload photos is directly from your phone. Phone cameras — especially back cameras — produce sharper, higher-quality images than most webcams. HeadshotPro has a dedicated mobile capture flow that walks you through taking the right poses and uploads photos to your desktop session automatically.
How it works
From a desktop browser (QR code flow)
- On the photos step, click "Capture selfies with your phone."
- A modal opens with a QR code. Scan it with your phone camera — no app install needed.
- Your phone opens a mobile-optimized capture page at
/capture/[your-model-id]. - The capture page guides you through a series of poses with real-time coaching:
- Looking forward: smiling
- Looking forward: neutral
- Looking to the left
- Looking to the right
- Big smile with mouth open
- For each pose, align your face with the on-screen oval. When the oval turns green and conditions are good, tap the capture button. A countdown runs, then the shutter fires.
- Photos upload directly and appear on your desktop session automatically — you do not need to refresh.
- Keep your desktop browser open until all photos are uploaded.
From a mobile browser (already on your phone)
If you open the upload flow on your phone directly, the QR code step is skipped. Tap "Start capturing selfies" and the capture page opens in a new tab.
Alternative: upload from your gallery
If you have existing photos on your phone, tap "Upload from my gallery" on the photos step. Select one or more JPEG or PNG files. Accepted formats and size limits are the same as desktop uploads.
Camera tips
- Use the back camera for significantly higher quality than the front camera. Tap the flip button in the capture interface to switch.
- Ask a partner, friend, or colleague to take the photos for you — this lets you use the back camera without holding the phone yourself.
- Face a window for natural, even lighting.
- Stand in front of a plain background.
Real-time coaching
The capture page uses on-device face detection to give live feedback before you shoot:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Looking for your face... | Move into the frame |
| Move a bit closer | Step closer to the camera |
| Move back a little | Step back from the camera |
| Move your face into the oval | Center your face |
| Look straight at the camera | Face forward |
| Find better lighting | Move to a brighter spot or face a light source |
| Too bright - find some shade | Move out of direct bright light |
| Harsh shadows - turn toward light | Reposition so light falls evenly on your face |
| Try a plainer background | Move in front of a less cluttered background |
| Perfect! Tap to capture | You are ready to shoot |
If face detection fails to load (slow connection or unsupported browser), the interface falls back to manual mode — you can still capture photos, but real-time coaching is disabled.
Good to know
- Do not close the desktop browser window until all your photos have uploaded. The photos transfer automatically when you submit each shot.
- The capture link is tied to your active model session. If the link expires or is invalid, scan a new QR code from your desktop.
- After all required photos are captured, the mobile page shows a confirmation screen. Return to your desktop to continue with the next step.
- You can also add more photos from the gallery on the missing-photos screen if you run short after the guided capture.
